MJS Supporting Entrepeneurs

Sept 2024

One of the benefits of being my own boss is not having to wear a business suit every day.

It was something I did happily for many years growing Sellick Partnership but times have changed now. So I was delighted to find two brilliant organisations to donate many of my business suits too: Suited for Success UK and WorkingWardrobe.
It’s easily to forget how hard and demoralising it can be to find a job if you don’t have the money, support, or community that so many of us take for granted.
Yet everyone deserves the right to work, to be considered fairly for a role, to have the pride in earning a payroll, and to have a career.
It was a privilege to meet Patricia White, Matthew Enstone, and Natasha Bernard and see first hand what a difference they’re making to people’s lives.
As well as business clothes - for men and women - both organisations offer invaluable advice and practical support for people looking for a job.
They provide advice on CV writing, interview techniques, and most importantly have faith in the people they’re helping and build up their confidence.
The work that Natasha and Patricia - and their teams, and other organisations like them across the country - do is priceless.
What started with a desire to clear out some wardrobe space has really opened my eyes and been so much more.
Thanks to everyone who has followed this story and made suggestions and supported the idea.
Please do have a look in your wardrobe and see if there's anything 'gently worn' that you can donate and make a difference to someone.
Check out Suited for Success UK and Groundwork LinkedIn pages too to learn more about what they do.
