Yes, she Kam! And so does Taylor.

September 2024

'Yes she Kam', I think. And so does Taylor Swift.
In my mind, Kamala Harris won last night’s presidential debate 3️⃣-1️⃣ after overcoming a nervy start against Donald Trump. She certainly did enough to win the most coveted endorsement of all, from Taylor Swift, after the debate.

Harris conceded early over some policy U-turns but soon put Trump on the defensive with a series of attacks - especially on abortion and reproductive rights, his own reputation abroad, and most woundingly for his ego, over people leaving his election rallies early.
Faced with this, Trump lost focus and came out with some bizarre stuff, prompting some corrections and fact-checking from the moderators, which seemed to wind him up more.
Notably Trump personally went into the ‘spin room’ afterwards and argued to journalists that he’d won - the mark of worried man who secretly knows he’s lost. His supporters even claimed it’d been ‘three on one’ in the debate, accusing the moderators of backing Harris.

Most importantly to Harris, she presented herself successfully as a Commander-in-Chief and avoided any screw-ups that could have scuppered her campaign in the way previous candidates have suffered, including against Trump.
Interestingly, a Washington Post focus group of undecided swing-state voters heavily favoured Harris after the poll. Picking up a few percentage points amongst these voters is the difference between victory and defeat. Have a look at the images attached.

The endorsement of Harris by Taylor Swift was expected but the timing was a surprise. In her Instagram post, published immediately after the debate, Swift said Harris ‘fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them’.
She signed off her post ‘Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady’ in a swipe at Trump’s vice-presidential running mate JD Vance.

So Harris moves forward - and has even challenged Trump to another debate next month - with another milestone safely under her belt. But there’s still time for more twists in this election campaign.
